CARE FOR CREATION IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA on Tarntanya, Kaurna Country and surrounds


Everyone is welcome to all the events listed but please note that bookings are required for the Monday Walking on Country and Wednesday trip to Raukkan

Sunday 1st October

10 am Ruth Harvey, will preach at Blackwood Uniting Church, Coromandel Parade, Blackwood (the church at the roundabout) and

 Brooke Prentis will preach at Brougham Uniting Church, 193 Brougham Place, North Adelaide

1 pm You are invited to gather at Colebrook Reconciliation Park, Shepherds Hill Rd, Eden Hills, next to Karinya Reserve.  Allen Edwards, a Kuarna Kokatha man will perform the Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony.

 This will be followed by conversation around the campfire with Ruth Harvey, Brooke Prentis and Lisa Wriley.

 A sausage sizzle, tea and coffee will be available or bring your own food & drinks.

 

Monday 2nd October

Walking on Country with Uncle Frank Wanganeen

10am Gather at the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre. Access via Warriparinga Way (off Sturt Rd) Bedford Park for travel by bus. After exploring the wetlands we will move onto Kingston Park, Hallett Cove, Noarlunga & Moana, visiting sacred sites and learning about Aboriginal culture.

 3pm Anticipated arrival back at Warriparinga.

  • Please bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks.

  • Bookings essential. Cost for the day will be $30 per person. 

 Tuesday 3rd October

Wee Sing, 3-4pm at Adelaide West Uniting Church, 312 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Brooklyn Park.  Ruth Harvey will bring the flavour of Iona leading us in song.  Also included will be a number of songs with Australian themes.  Do come and enjoy a good sing.

 Public Meeting 7-9 pm at Adelaide West UC with a Panel comprising: Ruth Harvey, Brooke Prentis and Bishop Chris McLeod. Bishop Chris is the Dean of St Peters Cathedral and Aboriginal Bishop of the Anglican Church in Australia. He is of Gurindji descent.

They will further explore the theme: Caring for Creation: Listening to First Nations and Celtic Voices

This will be an interactive time with questions, comments, insights & experiences shared.

  • While there is no cost for Wee Sing and the Public Meeting, donations would be appreciated at the door.

 

Wednesday. 4th October

Visit to Raukkan with Uncle Clyde Rigney

Raukkan is an Aboriginal community on the southeastern shore of Lake Alexandrina, situated on the lands of the Ngarrindjerri people. 

9.15 am (departing 9.30am) - 5pm

Travel will be by bus from Clayton Wesley Uniting Church on the corner of Portrush Rd & The Parade, Beulah Park.  Enter from Union St off The Parade where cars can be left in the carpark. 

Please bring your own lunch, drinks & snacks.

  • Bookings essential. Cost for the day will be $30 per person. 

 

Thursday 5th October

Polkinghorne Oration

7pm You are invited to hear Rev. James Bhagwan, General Secretary of the Pacific Islands churches speak on Climate Change and its effect on the Pacific Island communities.

At Concordia College, 24 Winchester St, Highgate. Hosted by Churches Together SA
